Many fans of Zack Snyder’s Justice League — the newest installment in the DCEU coming out in late March — got a real treat today as the upcoming film was released early on HBO Max. The highly anticipated cut was uploaded 10 days ahead of its original debut, under the guise of Tom and Jerry: a new release on the streaming service. Many lucky fans got the chance to see up to an hour of the film before its eventual cover-up. Sadly, the movie is no longer available on the service.
HBO addressed the situation in one of their outlets, stating, “Zack Snyder’s Justice League was temporarily available on HBO Max and the error was addressed within minutes,” and was later resolved quickly before many fans’ upbringing of the leak. One of the fans addressed the leak on social media per Variety, who claimed, “Bass, for what it’s worth, loved what he saw: ‘I just wanted to put on Tom & Jerry for background noise while I worked, and instead I watched an hour of an amazing movie,’ he told the outlet. “ (VanityFair, 3/10/21).
The accidental debut leaked many clips and photos from the early duration of the movie on Twitter and other social media outlets. They were taken down as of yesterday by Warner Brothers in hopes of keeping leaks to a minimum — at least until the eventful release on March 18th, which is Zack Snyder’s Birthday.
Zack Snyder is set to release his newest version of the film, Justice League (2017), on March 22nd, 2021. If you’ve been living under a rock for the past 3 years and need a quick recap, the Snyder-Cut is one of the most impactful events in current pop culture history and has revolutionized exactly how the media can influence an entire corporation into completing such an impossible goal: releasing Zack Snyder’s version of a film that came out four years prior. To be able to carry out this objective, Zack Snyder and the rest of the crew involved with the film will have to resume production of the movie, re-shoot portions, and even edit entire chunks of a film; this would barely cater any profit for the studio. It seems tedious for them and even unnecessary; but, even if it may be an unnecessary task, they did do it, and the fan-base is ecstatic for what will come next.
